The Red Sox playing would've garnered larger ratings, but not much else.


I think the World Series on FOX has overstayed its welcome. The highest World Series ratings have consistently been with ABC and NBC and CBS.


The writing is on the wall, look at this graph from Wikipedia:

Not once, even with an increased population, has Game of the Week on FOX outrated CBS.


All star game ratings have decreased every year, and even when you had the big market team in the Yankees playing the Mets, it was then the lowest rated series in history before the small market teams started joining in on the fun.



FOX's 3 other fatal flaws are losing the rights to showing ALDS or NLDS games, continuing to let Joe Buck and Tim McCarver be the top team, and most importantly, and ESPN is guilty of this too:


Banking on the Red Sox and Yankees to save you.



Sadly, FOX signed a new contract so it'll be the same way until 2013.


I really think CBS would kill to have something like this.

When is Fox going to be willing to try something different? I am a HUGE baseball fan, but living on the East Coast, knowing that I am staring at a post-midnight finish, I do have to debate signing up for a game like that.

Here are some ideas:
-Start a game at 725 on the east coast.
-God forbid, play the Saturday and/or Sunday game at 5:15pm. The Super Bowl starts at 620, why can't baseball?
-A day game?
-Not so many stupid off days.

I worry about the future of this game.

Fox needs to be much more flexible in scheduling baseball; no more picking 8-10 Boston and New York games each, in December, and then sticking with them, while ignoring the teams that actually deserve air time.

I know that everyone hates Boston now, but please explain why they were not deserving of nationally televised games? They made the playoffs and were competitive all year long. I get that FOX should have had for Rays, Brewers or White Sox games...but the Red Sox were a good team all year. So, taking them off the schedule makes no sense at all.

Serves FOX right. Give it back to NBC.

That's what they get when they pimped the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Cubs, and Dodgers all season.

If FOX had their way, the World Series would be Yankees-Red Sox, even though they're in the same league.

I've never liked FOX's baseball coverage.

The networks and MLB would have loved a Boston vs. LA series, east coast vs west coast. Well they did not get it. I think an all east coast series hurts the west coast following. But it is going to heat up

The Sunday game has to be a night game because of NFL commitments.

BTW, the forecast for Philadelphia is rain Saturday, clear Sunday, partly cloudy Monday and Tuesday. Fox should have a large audience Sunday night with Giants-Steelers leading up to Game 3 of the Series.

i think these two sentences were overlooked:

"Game 2 provided FOX with its best Thursday night in 28 weeks (April 10) among households, viewers, and adults 18-49, while Game 1 delivered FOX its best Wednesday in 22 weeks."

How is that bad for Fox?

It's bad for Fox because they sell ad time based on prior World Series ratings - not on what their regularly scheduled programming does.
